VACANT HOUSES/BUILDINGS: ANOTHER ISSUE OUR JAMAICA LEADERS DO NOT ADDRESS

Dangerous falling apart vacant homes with garbage

Dangerous falling apart vacant homes with garbage. Two homes are on each side of this, which has been like this for over 4 years. This right across from the 103rd precinct.

Our totally useless batch of local Jamaica leaders, who seem to busy being corrupt, trying to scam some money, doing something underhanded (Assemblymember William Scarborough, one of the latest) seem to never properly address the important quality of  life issues that affect the majority of Jamaica residents. They seem to skirt these types of issues constantly to play act a homeless person (Councilman Ruben Wills), waste time changing the name of streets (the horrible crime ridden South Road to Tuskegee Airman Way) or a million other lightweight bullshit that has no bearing what-so-ever on quality of life issues in our community. They just refuse to address these issues, focus on them and come up with permanent solutions. Issues they never address or say anything about except if a reporter sticks a microphone in their face and they have to say something. Problems which are major quality of life issues that have been going on for a long time in our community. I mean if none of you are going to address these issues, what is the point of even having you in office, why waste our tax payers dollars if you are not going to better the community.

The major garbage, litter and illegal dumping problem. NOTHING. The Thug Auto Body Shops scattered all over the community, some in residential areas, that leave their junked and unlicensed cars all over the public streets and sidewalks, leaking hazardous fluids all over. NOTHING.  Illegal apartments. NOTHING. Poor Zoning, NOTHING. Abandoned cars and boats all over our community. NOTHING.  If it were not for hard working and caring people like Bruno Iciano and his crew from DOS or The Untouchables (Sgt Cedillo and his crew from the 103rd precinct) some of these issues would go untouched because our local elected leaders are just standing around with their thumbs up their asses seeing how they can benefit themselves instead of their community they were put into office to serve and serve well.

Two blocks from me and next to two homes, this has been like this for several years. A disaster in the making.

And then there are the numerous unsecured vacant homes/buildings that litter our community. Vacant buildings that are not only eyesores and devalue property in our community, but buildings that become places for illegal dumping, criminal activity and places for vagrants to hang out in. It is not like our slew of nitwit elected leaders are not aware of it, the fact is they are not addressing a most dangerous situation. Not only are some of these buildings unsafe from years of sitting empty and not fenced off or secured properly, but they create health issues due to the enormous amounts of garbage that are dumped in and around them, the types of illegal activities that go on inside them and the potential for fire caused by vagrants living in some of them.

Typical South Jamaica

Unsecured, one just needs to go right through the basement window, where there is no window.

Another one of Will's District. South Road, which will be changed to Tuskagee Airmen Way courtesy of Wills. Why clean it up, just rename it.

Thankfully “The Untouchables” removed this vehicle two weeks ago. It sat for over a year and our leaders knew this. But the abandoned house is easily accessible.

Case in point, a one family home in South Richmond Hill is homeless as a three alarm fire destroyed their home, while 130 firemen got it under control. What caused the fire? A vacant house next door where vagrants have been going inside it for five years. So for five years, our leaders knew that this vacant house was not properly secured and was a haven for vagrants, but choose to do what they always do, ignore it. Luckily, no one was hurt or killed in this fire, but a family is homeless because our elected leaders refuse to address yet another in a long line of serious quality of life issues in the Greater Jamaica community.

So tell me Ms. Katz, how many of these types of properties are near you in your neighborhood of Forest Hills? Please let me know. By the way your Deputy President, Comrie, is very aware of these, but being aware and doing something are two different damn things.

Communities like Jamaica, which has been neglected is where effort needs to go.
