Looking around all of Jamaica, the quality of life, retail stores, food establishments, other businesses, etc, you would think that everyone who lives in the Greater Jamaica Area is all low-class ghetto or low-class immigrants, but that is really not the case. But you sure could not tell by looking around, because it is one low-class ghetto with shitty retail, crappy food establishments, dirty and filthy sidewalks & streets, unclean garbage strewn parks, pretty much just a whole bunch of shit.
A while back the Jamaica BID did a study about the millions of dollars that are lost from quality people who live here but shop, dine and spend their money in other communities. Who would blame them, who would want to shop on Jamaica Avenue, with block after block of extremely cheap, crappy clothing, tons of beauty supplies stores, third world crap retail, cheap furniture stores, crappy food establishments made up of mostly fast food. With the exception of a very few stores (Fino, Portabella to name just a few), everything is just shit.
Then there is the filth factor. Jamaica is disgustingly dirty thanks to the many low life folks who come to the Ave to buy shit from Pretty Girl and Rainbow to no name stores and 99 cent stores. Quality people have no desire to shop here, yet the powers to be keep on catering to the bottom of the barrel people and they wonder why they are losing so much money and Jamaica looks like a ghetto slum.
The powers to be do not even try, because if they did, they would clean the fucking area up, which they have not done. They think that if you just drop a quality store or restaurant in Jamaica, that the people will flock. First off they will not flock to Jamaica because of the filthy third world conditions and second no quality place of business will open in Jamaica with it looking like a shit hole. So asshole powers to be, elected leaders, community board 12 and other leaders, you need to re-think this and get off your asses and do something beside seeing how far up your ass your thumb can go.
In the meantime, I and others will be very happy to spend our money in other places from Forest Hills, Astoria, Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn.
So yeah, keep kissing those dollars good bye and keep catering to the lowest common denominator, who bring nothing to the table in this community.
Ghetto only brings ghetto and that is bad news for everyone.
