I KNOW, I KNOW, I am on the fucking truck driving situation.
The photo below shows an accident waiting to happen when polluting waste facilities are put too close to residents and a downtown area. Even though this section of 17oth between Jamaica Ave and Liberty can be used by both cars and trucks, it should not. Most of those blocks of 170th are residential, including a NYCHA Senior Apartment Building. So why, may you ask. Well because that polluting waste facility, Royal Waste (24/7) is just one block off Liberty, right on Douglas Ave, so trucks galore use it and it is a narrow two lane street, hell, I won’t even ride my bike on it.
Of course instead of using Jamaica Ave many of these trucks can just take Liberty and trucks coming from Royal Waste can just turn right on Liberty to the other truck route as opposed to going north on 170th and then turning onto Jamaica Ave (or sometime up my section).
This truck can barely turn onto the street and what is right there a school bus. I mean what leaders about two decades ago gave a go-ahead to put this polluting facility right in this community near residents. What, Forest Hills turned it down and our corrupt folks here worked out some kind of deal or “it is just a community of color, who cares and they will not do anything about it.”
Three neighborhoods have the largest percentage of waste facilities in their community for all the NYC garbage. Jamaica, North Brooklyn and South Bronx.
