GIVE TIMES LEDGER A PIECE OF YOUR MIND ON WHAT THEY CALL MAJOR QUALITY OF LIFE ISSUES “OCCASIONAL RUMBLINGS” BY A FEW”

The Times Ledger recent article, Vacant Jamaica storefronts turned into art galleries, included this potshot at Clean Up Jamaica Queens and some local activist who have been calling out powers that be for doing nothing about major quality of life issues as “occasional grumblings” by some locals” and then NEVER questioned that. I did not know that major quality of life issues that are destroying this community have been reduced to “occasional grumblings”.

Despite occasional grumblings by some locals about the state of things in their neck of the woods, the Jameco Exchange folks have taken a positive attitude, drawing inspiration from the retail vernacular of their two-story storefront and the cobblestone pedestrian mall in which it is situated, as well as the social culture of Jamaica Avenue and the histories of the community.

LET THEM HAVE  A PIECE OF YOUR MIND.

  1. The ledger’s interpretations on outrage on the community reminds me of when Commissioner Bratton described the dramatic rise in knife attacks as “abberations”

Certain people like to dictate the narrrative. Another example is when the Blaz tells reporters to stay on topic at press conferences.

There seems to be an epidemic of phraseology in these times in the city.

  2. If it weren’t for the comic effect alone, I would have stopped commenting there long ago.
No one ‘on staff’ there could give a damn about story accuracy, let alone proofreading what they produce to avoid the many errors seen in almost every article.
Recently they posted an article about a missing SE Queens man and included his photo to ‘enlist the public’s help in finding him’.
The only problem was that the man pictured had nothing whatsoever to do with the missing person: they posted a photo of an author whose play they featured in an earlier piece.
I notified them twice of the error: nothing was ever corrected.
They could’nt care less if an article is patently false – as in this issue of ‘occasional grumblings’ – or if it is riddled with mistakes that a high school newspaper would’nt make.
The Times Ledger is a damn joke.
