Yep, one more final post to go before “Clean Up Jamaica Queens” blog is history. THIS PLACE SUCKS bottom line and if you think otherwise, you are either used to the shit, don’t care, corrupt, came from an even shittier place, ghetto or too damn fucking stupid to know better. Plus, I am bored with this crap and will now spend my time finally getting out of here and possibly New York, because, NYC sucks as well, unless you have the bucks not to live in places like Jamaica or you don’t have to ride the third world country subway system or any of the other shit that our politicians do not have to deal with on a daily basis like the rest of us. But back to ghetto Jamaica.
Recently in an advertising supplement in The Daily News promoting Jamaica JAMS, the annual Jamaica Arts and Music Festival this coming weekend (and one of the few decent things in Jamaica), they start off with this BIG LIE.
A stroll in downtown Jamaica isn’t what is used to be. In fact, the signs of a welcomed renovation to the Jamaica Queens landscape are getting easier to recognize thanks to the Jamaica Now Action Plan.
REALLY, I have been here for almost 6 years and I have seen no damn difference at all, certainly not any “welcomed renovations”. Sure when I moved here, there was no Applebees (big deal, a shitty chain), no City Rib (which closed after a couple of years doing poor business and morphed into Moda Grill, which still does shitty business), a Starbucks and Don Nico’s, but the garbage is still all over and getting worse, the traffic congestion in downtown is a mess and hazardous to your health (ask the elderly man whose legs were crushed by a tractor trailer truck as he crossed the street recently), the crap retail stores keep multiplying like rabbits) and the same old crap crooked elected officials keep getting into office thanks to the ignorant sheeple residents who keep putting them in office. Oh, and that Jamaica Now Action Plan headed by asshole Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, well, if you can tell me just one positive thing they have done, well, let me know (on second hand, I don’t really give a shit). They have done nothing about easy to fix issues like illegal truck driving on residential streets, illegally parked tractor trailer trucks or auto body shops turning streets & sidewalks into junkyards AND YES, part of this “non-action” plan is to improve quality of life issues, which they have done SHIT.
And if you report complaints to 311, you are deemed “A CHRONIC CALLER” or “occasional grumbling by that rag, Times Ledger. Most complaints go unaddressed (just ask Pamela Hazel, community activist and resident, who has chronicled the same issues and problems for a decade).
And oh, I guess this is what is considered one of their “welcomed renovations”. Recently $95,000 dollars was spent to give a face lift to about five typical ghetto retail places on Sutphin Blvd below shitty Hillside Ave (Popeye’s, Liquor Store, 99 cent store and a deli), while right around the corner on 88 Ave illegal garbage dumping is taking place on a regular basis and no one is doing a damn thing about it.
And what about leaders ship, I mean look at these names: Archie Spigner, Malcolm Smith, Gregory Meeks, Rev. Floyd Flake, Shirley Huntley, Ruben Wills, I. Daneek Miller, Vivian Cook, Leroy Comrie, Yvonne Reddick, a virtual whose who of do nothings and crooks. I mean all these folks (and all these years) and Jamaica still continues to look the way it does. Sure they cannot solve everything, especially what falls outside of their jurisdiction, but they could have stopped the poisonous Royal Waste facility being dumped into a residential area, they could have stopped some of the homeless shelters being dumped by the dozen here (especially in the downtown area), they certainly could have stopped the whole illegal truck driving and parking issue or the auto body shop fiasco that turned Merrick Blvd into Willets Point. BUT THEY DIDN’T.
And that brings me to many of the residents in this community and not just the criminals (tons of them), the welfare cases (tons of them), the ghetto (tons of them), but the regular so-call upstanding folks, who most just sat by the side of these asshole elected officials and kept putting them into office and then did not hold them accountable or speak up. These folks are even more to blame than the bottom of the barrel, because they should have known better.
Sure, Jamaica will probably change a decade from now, when the developers all swoop in and re-do the whole area, BUT that does not mean the area will be better, it will just have nice next to ghetto shit, your neighbors will still hang their dirty laundry off their shitty rusty balconies in their third world dwellings, homeless shelter will still be next to condo’s and young men will still be hanging out in front of dirty delis making noise.
As I said before JAMAICA SUCKS & I am finally tired of the bullshit and nonsense. Bottom line: This shit should have NEVER been allowed to fester for as long as it did.
Though this blog is coming to it’s conclusion, those of you living here, really need to step up to the plate and be heard as a unit. STOP PUTTING UP WITH THE BULLSHIT. I at least have the option of leaving.
