TOP 420 STONER ALBUMS: DON’T GO MAD WATCHING ELECTION RESULTS, INSTEAD LIGHT UP A 420 AND LISTEN TO THESE ALBUMS TO GET LOST IN

420-albums-beck420-albums-pharcydeAs one who every night pretty much watches political media news, mostly from MSNBC, I am aware of how depressing and crazy you can go and on the Election Armageddon Eve, no better time tonight and even tomorrow to light up some 420 and put on some albums to groove out to. Headphones a must.

So pick an album or two (better yet go in order) from Rolling Stones “Top 40 Greatest Stoner Albums” light up and chill. There are some great variety of albums here like the 420 obvious like Pink Floyd’s “Darkside of the Moon”, Dr Dre’s “The Chronic”, Miles Davis’s “Bitches Brew”but some surprises and some albums that you  may have never heard of or listened to.

420-albums-herbie-hancockSo in this Election Armageddon Eve and Election Armageddon Day, no time is better than to light up and listen to the way music was meant to be listen to, the album, meaning listening from Track 1 to the last track in order. You may suprise yourself, especially for you “youngins”, who only listen to “singles” and are clueless about listening to an entire album.

    • I am currently going through every single album and listening to them in their entirety. Many I was not familiar with including Kyuss, which I really got into the other night, majorly heavy. Of course I felt there were several omissions like Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express “Straight Ahead”, Cymande’s self titled first album, War’s “All Day Music”, anything by Rage Against the Machine, Santana “Abraxas”, to name a few. But then top lists are never fully complete. But Rolling Stone was pretty much on the money with these. Although I must say that D’Angelo’s Vodoo is a classic and often overlooked masterpiece.

  1. Oh yes devil’s pie. Set upon the desk in the oval office.

My one gripe is with Bitches Brew (Boring Brew). I think it just sounds terrible and the tracks drag and don’t groove or swing. His later rock forays are superior and may have invented hardcore and speed metal. And better for blazing too. Dark Magus and Agartha.

Fun Fact: The drummer on those albums was Mtume, the “juicy fruit” song guy.

    • Wow, I thought I was the only one who felt that way about Bitches Brew. I have not listened to it in a while, remembering I really did not like it when I first heard it and listening to it the other night, I really dislike it, I find it TOO LONG, boring at times and hard to listen to. BUT the cover is great as is the name, which over the years I had read that his wife at the time had him change the original title to Bitches Brew.

Didn’t know that about the drummer.
