FOOD FOR THOUGHT: HILLARY DID WIN THE POPULAR VOTE, SO MORE AMERICANS WANTED CLINTON, NOT TRUMP

I mean yes, in this country we have the electoral college  and the popular vote, but the presidency is won by the electoral vote (an issue with that process anyway) and Clinton so far (there are still votes outstanding) won the popular vote.

Clinton 59,814,018 votes                 Trump 59,611,678 votes

And even though Trump did win fair and square, the majority of the American voters did choose Clinton. Now for all the groaning that people are doing and for good reason, since we really don’t know what Trump is going to do and he can become a major disaster, plus the fact that it looks like he is going to fill his cabinet with status quo politicians (hardly a change when you think of it), to many people did not vote (which it BULLSHIT), others voted for losing third party candidates knowing full well that they would lose,  so they just threw their vote away) in a ridiculous “protest vote”. I mean really, in an election where so much was at stake, you did some bullshit protest vote.

So if you did not vote or you voted for a third party candidate, knowing full well they would loose, YOU cannot complaint about Trump becoming our next, so hard to say, “President”. Just like folks in Jamaica who complain year after year about the do nothing and crooked elected officials, yet either do not come out to vote or vote for the same shit over and over because “your pastor” told you.

Anyway, Clinton did win the popular vote, so the majority of voters did not choose Trump and so in a sense the American people choose Clinton, not Trump.

  1. A belated post: I too had problems casting my ballot, not only from disorganization from the staffers there, but something a bit creepy.

When I went to cast my ballot in the scanner, there was a “helper” there to instruct people. She told me to hand the folder before putting the sheet in. When I did just that it left my votes totally exposed for her to glance at it. Which is easy to do because the sheet itself is 14 inches long. This has happened before so I flipped it so my votes for president, congress and assembly wouldn’t be exposed. I thought, why can’t she just tell me to put the sheet in first then hand her the folder. And why the fuck isn’t the scanner not surrounded by a curtain but with a boisterous person there that can see your choices. The electoral process is majorly fucked up. Sure you’re still allowed to cast a ballot and have freedom of choice but any government appointed official can see what you are choosing. That sounds like a violation of the 4th amendment somehow.

As for these victors, or as I call them the usual suspects, Meeks and Cook, they don’t stand a chance finishing their terms without their homegirl Hillary as figurehead/president. I expect indictments within a year for their corrupt pursuit of personal wealth and pernicious influence.

  2. Clinton may have received more votes than any other candidate, but actually the majority of voters did not select Clinton. Same can be said about Trump, but when you consider all the votes that were cast, 52% of the country voted for someone other than Clinton.
