MRS. LEROY COMRIE STATES IN QUEENS PRESS “TONY AVELLA ISN’T EXACTLY EXCITING OR NEW” – YOU MEAN LIKE YOUR HUSBAND “MR. EXCITEMENT”

When I am voting for a candidate, be it Mayor, President or anything in between, I am not so superficial that I need to vote for the most “exciting” candidate since exciting does not mean shit. I am looking for someone who has integrity, is a “go getter”, who is not afraid to back done, who is willing to take on difficult issues, who is willing to put their ass on the line, who will fight for people as a public servant and who actually cares about their community. And by that definition, Leroy Comrie and all the other do nothing crooked SE Queens politicians do not fit in that category.

Leory’s wife, Marcia Moxum, a contributing writer for Queens Press, below give her perspective on Avella who has announced his running for Mayor against dicBlasio. And while she states some good points, I get the feeling that whe will not be voting for Avella and neither will her lackluster do nothing husband.

Of course the crooked Democratic machine does not like him, because Avella does not bend over and spread his cheeks, like your sap of a husband, Leroy “Mr. Excitemen” Comrie, does every chance he gets.

But you got one thing right, the people of Queens love him and for good reason, he listens to constituents and he gets involved. I cannot tell you how many times, Tony Avella (my senator) has helped me out greatly with so many issues I brought to both him and your husband, even though most of the issues fell in your husband’s jurisdiction. While Tony responded the majority of the time and actually made some progress, “Mr Excitement Comrie” not once reached out to me in my 6 years in this ghetto. NOT ONCE. And Avella has been the only one in Queens who has been extremely vocal on the whole homeless shelter bullshit going on in our borough, because that other do nothing, BP Katz has not said a word as this borough turns into “Homeless Hotel Village”.  He also had been extremely vocal about this worthless mayor and his many failed polices, certainly have not heard Leroy say a damn thing, even though his district is a mess and filling up with homeless shelters.

Sure your husband is well liked by other politicians and for some odd reason, many of the mindless black population in Jamaica, but Winston Churchill said this:

“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.” ― Winston Churchill

It is obvious Leroy has no enemies.

From Queens Press:

Senator Avella Wants To Be ‘Mayor Avella’

A Personal Perspective
BY MARCIA MOXAM COMRIE

Well it was bound to happen. State Senator Tony Avella (D-Bellerose) plans to challenge Mayor Bill de Blasio in the race for mayor next year.

Avella, a member of the State Senate’s Independent Democratic Caucus (IDC), has filed papers to run for mayor; and will reportedly make a formal announcement on Sunday, Dec. 19.

The former City Councilman who represented Council District 19, has always marched to the beat of his own drum — to the chagrin of party leaders and colleagues, such as then-Councilman de Blasio. His joining the IDC has also stuck in the craw of Senate Democratic leadership. Every Democrat who joins the splinter group diminishes the mainline Democrats’ chances to regain control of the Senate.

Leaving the City Council in 2009 after two terms, Avella in 2010 took on entrenched Republican senator, Frank Padavan for the 11th Senate District and won; and in 2014 he successfully defended his seat against former City Council Colleague and Public Advocate, John Liu.

Liu was himself a candidate for mayor in 2013 and was among those who lost the primary to de Blasio. Tony Avella, to put it bluntly, doesn’t care about being liked and is therefore, not well liked by the powers that be. But his constituents clearly like him.

There is at least one other known Democrat who has also said he is running. Former Councilman and a mayoral candidate himself last time out Sal Albanese plans to throw his hat in the ring again.

And although de Blasio has made many missteps as mayor, he is so well known that defeating him in a primary will not be a cake walk. Neither Albanese, who lives in Brooklyn; nor Avella, a Queensite, are exactly exciting and new.

Fortunately for them, neither is de Blasio, whose bi-racial family was appealing to the very ethnically mixed City of New York. That’s old now. Even Dante’s famous afro has been trimmed down (not that he couldn’t regrow it, but who’d care now? Very few people, one imagines).

The Mayor has also not made a major dent with the homelessness problem. In fact, it has reached crisis proportions. Add to that, the Administration for Children’s Services is in the hot seat even as we go to press.

ACS Commissioner Gladys Carrion stepped down earlier this week after her agency failed to protect two children this fall alone from their abusers of months if not years. The overwrought commissioner said in a press conference that it is better for her wellbeing that she steps down.

Her wellbeing! How about the wellbeing of the two little boys who died because the system failed to act in their behalf? As she said through her sobs, no child should have to die. Yes, we agree with that, Ma’am; and we are glad you are stepping down so that we can start afresh. We’re praying it never happens again.

These things, if nothing else, will haunt the Mayor throughout the election cycle. He’s man enough to take responsibility for these failures, but while saying, “The buck stops with me,” is a refreshing change, it doesn’t change anything.

So yes, Avella and other Democrats should challenge the Mayor. It will make him a better candidate and a mayor should he win a second term. Meanwhile, Avella’s chance of becoming mayor is debatable at this time.

  1. It’s hard to imagine reading an ‘editorial’ more idiotic than this, anywhere, even in the satirical paper ‘The Onion’.
In this ‘journalist’s’ opinion, neither possible mayoral challengers Avella nor Albanese ‘are exciting and new’ but ‘neither is de Blasio, whose bi-racial family was appealing to the very ethnically mixed City of New York. That’s old now. Even Dante’s famous afro has been trimmed down (not that he couldn’t regrow it, but who’d care now?)’.
Maybe she could explain in her next analysis exactly what the relationship of a ‘bi-racial family’ and ‘Donte’s famous afro’ is to effective governance.
Absolutely nothing, unless you are profoundly stupid and racist.
She seems to not know a damn thing about the effectiveness of Avella: he’s easily one of the most responsive and effective advocates in the NY State Senate for his district.
She states that despite DeBlasio’s failures in promises to address persistant homelessness and the repeated crises of ACS, ‘he’s man enough to take responsibility for these failures.’
When exactly did this man EVER take full responsibility for ANY failure of his administration?
DeBlasio has made an art of blaming everyone but himself for the failures and declining quality of life of this city.
Comrie states that she welcomes the election challenges of Avella and Albanese (despite the fact that neither of them could grow an impressive Afro), because it ‘will make him a better candidate and a mayor’.
What? DeBlasio has been on the damn job for three years, his administration has been tarnished with multiple, clearly unethical – possibly criminal – ‘pay to play’ scandals (with possible indictments just around the corner), and he needs an ‘election challenge’ to kick-start him into doing his job correctly?
Comrie sums up the total and complete rot of SE Queens politics.
She criticizes Avella for having partnered with the NY State Senate IDC to get effective policies passed, his crime here ‘diminishing mainline Democrats to regain control of the Senate’. There you have it.
Good governance is not important, the many pressing needs of their constituents is not the issue: maintaining the MACHINE, the endless GRAVY TRAIN is the issue, feeding the FS Army.
Marcia Comrie is a hack, not a journalist. The Queens Press is nothing more than a SE Queens Dem Machine vehicle.
DeBlasio is the worst damn mayor this city has seen since the impotence and failures of Dinkins.
None of this is new. It is a pathetic, disgusting indictment of every one of the SAP voters that continue to elect these same clowns into office, year after year, expecting some ‘magical’ improvement to occur.
Einstein described repeating the same action but expecting a different result as the definition of INSANITY.
