Well, well, well, did not take too long for all the hype development to cool off in ghetto Jamaica (The Crossing & the old Immaculate Mary Hospital are still a go). Hey but in the meantime, we are becoming known as HOMELESS SHELTER VILLAGE.
From SE Queens Reader & Contributor:
Well, it looks like that nice boutique hotel with the roof top bar ain’t happening anymore either (https://cleanupjamaicaqueens.wordpress.com/2016/04/20/look-out-15-story-hotel-with-rooftop-bar-planned-for-downtown-jamaica-at-archer-150th/), even though they demoed the property and dug the hole for the foundation. Also, the 10 story luxury building with a doorman property on Archer ave is for sale again too (http://arielpa.nyc/listing/92-18-150th-street).
Hhhmm, let’s see, the Jamaica Tower on Archer ain’t happening anymore the developer is selling the land (https://cleanupjamaicaqueens.wordpress.com/2017/01/15/another-big-jamaica-development-not-happening-did-they-jump-the-gun-on-the-revitalization-of-jamaica-way-too-soon/), 168th st development got nixed (supposedly they have a new developer and project they are announcing soon, and now these aren’t happening anymore either (https://cleanupjamaicaqueens.wordpress.com/2016/03/01/plans-for-big-50-million-department-storeretail-space-terminated-guess-jamaica-is-not-so-hot-you-think/). Just a coincidence, or are developers bailing out to find new potential sucker for the hype. Who knows. It’s just an observation. Maybe we’ll get something bigger and better. Time will tell.
