COMING TO THE AVE: MORE NEW CRAP TO REPLACE OLD SHITTY CRAP

The community of Jamaica, always keeping the bar as fucking ghetto low as can be. So I guess the steps in the community are:

  1. LOW-CLASS GHETTO THIRD WORLD SHIT & CRAP
  2. GHETTO SHIT & CRAP
  3. GHETTO FAB
  4. DECENT
  5. ???????????????

——————————–

OLD JAMAICA SHIT

OLD SHIT: A & J Unisex and Friendly Uniform & More (which is really African Movie Store), they just did not bother to replace the sign.

NEW JAMAICA SHIT

(because you can never have enough fried chicken and burgers in this community). Well, at least Texas Chicken & Burger, which is a chain states “All of our beef and chicken come from farms where they are ethically housed and fed a fully grain-based diet – and never get administered antibiotics, growth hormones, or other unnatural chemicals.” There are over a dozen of these places in NYC, mostly in ghettoish areas, which tell you something.

  1. Your photograph of the closed ‘two’ stores below reveals some interesting retail history: at one time this was one normal-sized store, before being chopped in half to provide two 3rd World-sized shitholes: note the lower signs ‘lingerie’ and ‘sportwear’ along with a once standard-looking address sign; it looks like the new eatery will recombine the split-up space.
What often happens with a thorough facade renovation to a store (instead of these cheap-ass fabric/awning type things), is that some of what might be left of the original signage often reveals itself.
In some of the classic photos of Jamaica Ave from the ~ 30’s through the early ’60’s – some seen on this blog – almost every store had artistic, neon signage: none of that exists anymore, anywhere in NYC.

    • HA! If ‘Texas Chicken & Burger’ has any real business acumen, they’d launch a ‘grand opening’ campaign with that now ‘classic’ photo – repeated here many times – of a bull being chased by the ‘Halal Slaughterhouse Mob’ down a residential Jamaica street, with the caption:
‘Jamaica: Run with the bulls, run with the freshest!’
