When I hear that comment “Our youth have nothing to do, no jobs, etc, that is why the hang-out on street corners all the time”, my bullshit meeter goes haywire. I mean this is New York City, not some small hick-town of a a population of 1,524. Not too say that some of that is not true, but it has more to do with discipline, applying yourself and focus than anything else. AND speaking proper English can go a long way along with a good attitude as well. All those knuckleheads making idiotic comments on Facebook about the Chipotle coming to “The Ave”, when such places open in Jamaica, they bring jobs into the area as opposed to the gazillion of 99 cent stores and beauty supply stores, which brings VERY LITTLE jobs to the community and most go to people who are familiar with the owners of these shitty establishments. So stop making excuses. And parents who use this comment (which I heard at a 103rd community council meeting), get your damn kids to apply. And tell them to pull their damn pants up and speak proper English and leave the shitty attitude parked the curb.
