BIG FIRE UNDER HARLEM METRO NORTH TRACKS DUE TO PARKED GARBAGE TRUCKS: WHEN ARE WE GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT TRUCKS PARKING UNDER MTA TRACKS & LIRR OVERPASS TUNNELS, ESPECIALLY IN DOWNTOWN JAMAICA

Another disaster under the MTA tracks due to parking of waste trucks

As a reader of this blog stated:

Notice that these ‘crack’ journalists – getting paid at the NY Daily News – make no mention of what happened to the MetroNorth tracks the LAST time there was a serious fire under the tracks (that decade-long accumulation of flammable shit – including fck’g propane tanks) near this location.
These people seem incapable of learning from past mistakes.
It still blows my mind every time you post photos of the ongoing – months – years (?) long storage of massive truck trailers under the local LIRR overpass in SE Queens:  an unimaginable disaster just waiting to happen.  And NO ONE could give a shit.
Why must history continuously repeat itself and not learn from past mistakes. I mean how many times do we have to have some major fire under a MTA track due to “flammable propane tanks” from a flower shop under the MetroNorth Track in 2016 (https://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/19/nyregion/metro-north-service-fire.html). AND what about all those waste trucks parked under all of the LIRR overpass tunnels in downtown Jamaica that I have been reporting on for years and very little is being done about this. Yet, our local elected hacks will state how much they care about the community including Queen BP Katz the Hack, but not one of them have ever brought this issue up and all have ignored my constant emails regarding this very dangerous situation in downtown Jamaica that if there were such an incident, affect the LIRR and the downtown area of Jamaica, where are any given day, thousands and thousands of  people, cars and buses come through.

BUT keep ignoring this issue of allowing bullshit to continue and a lack of enforcement by all agencies. My great NCO’s, Sgts Sclafani and York are working on this issue and speaking with the hack agency, DOT, about using common sense and putting NO PARKING signs in these tunnels.

ILLEGAL

More amazing this situation was completely ignored for years from elected officials, Community Board 12, DOT, NYPD, Queens Borough Presidents and of course the citizens, many who just don’t give a shit. YET Katz the Hack issued a idiotic statement chastising Spectrum for their recent outage that folks could not cruise the internet for porn or watch idiotic TV like Housewives of Atlanta.
Every day you go through one of these LIRR Tunnels in Downtown Jamaica, you will see this large trucks as well as other vehicles parked during the dav, the evening and the entire weekends. This is common sense shit folks.

A garbage truck went up in flames underneath the Metro North tracks in East Harlem bringing train traffic temporarily to a halt, officials said.

The blaze began inside a garbage truck parked beneath the railroad tracks at 119th St. and Park Ave. around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to officials.

The fire continued for an hour and a half before it was extinguished Thursday morning, officials said.

No firefighters or civilians were injured in the fire, authorities confirmed.

Video posted on social media shows large flames rising from the burning truck. A series of loud explosions pop off in quick succession, sending flashes of light into the night sky.

The MTA shut down power to the train line around midnight, suspending train service in and out of Grand Central, said MTA spokesperson Nancy Gamerman.

Power to the line was restored a half hour later, Gamerman said.

The MTA does not expect the fire to affect riders’ morning commute, she said.

  1. I haven’t seen the NAACP advocate for these issues either. I know civic organizations are, but they don’t have as much resources to get things done.
