“CITY HALL” WEEK IN QUEEN STARTING MONDAY: MEET THE MAYOR & OTHERS IF YOU DON’T FUCKING WORK

Right, 9am to 1pm, on Monday, July 17 to meet the mayor and other city official clowns to ask questions and bring up issues. THE ONLY ISSUE is most people work during that time, so I guess this will be good for the chronically unemployed lazy, the homeless, the hood rats that stand out in front of bodegas 24/7 and others with nothing to do all day. AND why only 4 hours.

Just NYC BULLSHIT that make you think the powers that be really give a shit. OH and it is election time.

A resource fair in Kew Gardens and a town hall meeting in Astoria are two marquee events scheduled for next week as Mayor Bill de Blasio brings his “City Hall in Your Borough” initiative to Queens.

The mayor announced he and other senior officials would spend a week in the World’s Borough the week of July 17 in order to “continue building a closer relationship between New Yorkers and their city government.” The program includes a series of events aimed at allowing Queens residents to directly engage with the mayor and/or other government officials about their concerns and problems.

On Tuesday, July 18, Queens residents are invited to a City Resource Fair hosted by Mayor Bill de Blasio and Queens Borough President Melinda Katz.

Commissioners and senior staff are available to answer questions from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Helen Marshall Cultural Center at Queens Borough Hall located on 120-55 Queens Blvd. in Kew Gardens. Residents are encouraged to sign up at nyc.gov/Queens or by calling 212-748-0281.

Later that same day, Department of Consumer Affairs Commissioner Lorelei Salas will host a town hall for immigrant business owners in Elmhurst. Participants will be given a guide on how to comply with city laws, tools for business education, and how to respond if Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents approach their business.

The town hall meeting will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on July 18 at Elmhurst Hospital Center, 79-01 Broadway, Room A1-22.

The following day, Wednesday, July 19, a discussion will be held at MoMA PS1 at 22-25 Jackson Ave. in Long Island City from 9 to 10:30 a.m. According to the latest data, Queens youth unemployment rate is at 14.8%. Speakers will discuss various youth employment and career readiness programs, including the “Ladders for Leaders” initiative. To RSVP, email Sarah Batchu at SBatchu[@]cityhall.nyc.gov.

Finally, Mayor de Blasio will host a town hall with residents of the 22nd Council District in northwest Queens on the night of July 19. The area is represented by City Councilman Costa Constantinides, Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, State Senator Michael Gianaris and Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas; each of them are scheduled to appear.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m. (the doors will close at 7:30 p.m.); the event will take place at P.S. 70, 30-44 43rd St. in Astoria. Seating is limited, so RSVP at townhallrsvp[@]cityhall.nyc.gov or call 212-748-0281.

Stay tuned to QNS.com for any additional events that may be scheduled during “City Hall in Your Borough” week in Queens.

  1. Typical, having it in safe spaces like far east Astoria and at the top of the hill in Kew Gardens. Why not have it in level areas like Ozone Park (where he wants to put more shelters and a prison after Rikers) and Jamaica (In Flux!!!) or even Forest Hills. The real weird thing is that this interferes with his usual 4 hour morning routine of going to his favorite gym in Park Slope pretending to do yoga.

Whoever does go, make sure you leave any critical of Mayor Big Slow and certain shitty Council hacks at home.
